11 Jul 2017

As the second-home for students and teachers that promotes holistic education, Sekolah Pelita Harapan (SPH) seeks to create the best school physical environment to support the teaching-learning process and to increase school’s academic performance. SPH also aspires to expand and to add new school facilities, and also to improve the quality of the existing school facilities.

There are at least 3 of SPH campuses which is now undergoing renovation and construction of new facilities: SPH Lippo Village, Sentul City and Pluit Village. Some of these projects are expected to be completed this mid-year to be used for 2017/2018 Academic Year. The following is the list of current renovation and construction projects of SPH:

SPH Lippo Village: Early Childhood Education & tree house construction and renovation of Junior School library & staff office.

SPH Sentul City: Renovation of classrooms, library and swimming pool

SPH Pluit Village: School building extension (Grade 7 & 8)

The quality of school building and facilities are vital for creating a supportive and healthy learning environment for students and teachers. According to Center for Evaluation and Education Policy of Analysis from Pennsylvania State University, the quality of a school building and facilities are important for physical and emotional health of students and teachers[1].

Claus and Girrbach also stated, “The effective school establishes a well-disciplined, secure, and wholesome learning environment, and maintains clean and orderly school buildings.”[2] One of the studies from Asian Journal of Educational Research found that the aesthetic beauty of school, infrastructural facilities, and school equipment are significantly influence students’ attitude to schoolwork and academic performance[3]. Our hope is that these SPH projects may be completed about time and support the teaching-learning process for the best result.

SPH Sentul City: Renovasi ruang-ruang kelas, perpustakaan & kolam renang.

(IA)
