Rooted in Faith, Equipped for the Future: Pelita Harapan Group Launches Sekolah Dian Harapan Jogjakarta
30-September-2025

Jogjakarta, 27 September 2025 – Sekolah Dian Harapan (SDH), part of the Pelita Harapan Group (YPPH), officially launched its newest campus, Sekolah Dian Harapan Jogjakarta.

SDH Jogjakarta, a Christ-centered K–12 Christian school, will welcome new students in July 2026, with a capacity of up to 800 students. The school is strategically located in Lippo Plaza Jogja on Jalan Laksda Adisucipto—the heart of the city.

The Grand Launching, held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, was attended by more than 600 parents, church leaders, educators, and community members. The event marked a new milestone by bringing Christian education that is modern, relevant, and rooted in faith in Indonesia’s renowned education city.

Building a Generation Rooted in Christ

SDH Jogjakarta is committed to an education that is systemic, Christ-centered, holistic, and transformative.
The school’s mission goes beyond exam preparation, aiming to develop individuals who are firmly rooted in faith, excel academically, and are prepared to serve and lead.

SDH Jogjakarta will include the following key features:

  • Modern & Relevant Curriculum – cultivating critical thinking, creativity, adaptability, and global competence in students.
  • Christian Identity – integrating faith with learning to build leaders of integrity.
  • English Immersion – developing strong English proficiency from the early grades, and providing both national and international pathways for the upper grade levels.
  • Caring Environment – fostering close teacher-student relationships that shape life and character.
  • Parent Partnership – working hand-in-hand with parents to guide their children in discovering their God-given calling.

This commitment is expressed through a distinctive learning pathway—a holistic approach that shapes not only the mind, but also the heart and hands. Rooted in a Biblical worldview, this model builds strong character, nurtures faith, and equips students to discover their God-given calling.

SDH Jogjakarta uniquely blends global best practices with a Christ-centered foundation. At SDH, earning is inquiry-driven, project-based, and focused on problem-solving—strengthened by the Cambridge curriculum and Singapore-based learning resources for globally-benchmarked learning.

Through this approach, students are formed to become wise learners, faithful leaders, and caring servants—ready to make a meaningful impact in their communities and beyond

Leaders’ Remarks

Dr. Stephanie Riady, Executive Director of Pelita Harapan Group:
“I remember 30 years ago, when we were first told about building the very first school under YPPH, located 45 minutes away from Central Jakarta. Dr. James Riady showed us a piece of empty land, and he reminded us that a school does not begin with facilities—it begins with a vision. 30 years ago, our foundation was established with a clear vision: to provide an education with global excellence and rooted in Christian values. Our first school, which I attended growing up, prioritized having excellent teachers, with strong support from the parents, the government, and the larger community. SDH Jogjakarta is the continuation of that same vision—bringing Biblically rooted, high-quality, and impactful Christian education to Jogjakarta.”

Deny Kiswanto Sinaga, School System Coordinator of SDH:
“Jogjakarta is well known as a city of education and culture. The presence of SDH Jogjakarta is an answer to the longing for a Christian school that stands firmly in faith while remaining relevant to today’s needs. We believe every child is called by God for a purpose, and our task is to walk alongside them as they discover and live it out.”

Wawan Harmawan, S.E., M.M., Deputy Mayor of Jogyakarta:
“Jogjakarta is a city of education. In line with the government’s mission to prioritize educational advancement for the next generation, the presence of Sekolah Dian Harapan Jogja is very timely—offering quality education while preparing children with strong English proficiency.”
