SDH Surabaya Launch Marks a New Era of Christian Education in Indonesia’s Second Biggest City

Surabaya, August 23, 2025 – The Pelita Harapan Group proudly celebrated the launch of Sekolah Dian Harapan (SDH) Surabaya at a grand event at City of Tomorrow (Cito) Mall. The launch drew an enthusiastic turnout, with many families and community members showing strong support for the school, which is set to officially open its doors in July 2026. This milestone marks a new era in Surabaya's educational landscape.
SDH Surabaya is a committed Christian school dedicated to four key principles:

Dr. Stephanie Riady, Executive Director of the Pelita Harapan Group, affirmed the new school's mission, saying, “Though SDH Surabaya is a new school, it stands on the legacy of Pelita Harapan Group, which pioneered Sekolah Pelita Harapan (SPH) as Indonesia’s first IB school. SDH Surabaya is not only about academic excellence but also about empowering students to contribute to solving real problems in their communities and beyond. Together, we remain committed to the vision of True Knowledge, Faith in Christ, and Godly Character.”
According to Deny Kiswanto Sinaga, school system coordinator of SDH, education rests on three key pillars — family, school, and church. He reminded parents of the crucial need to establish a clear family vision, and an educational partner that can support that vision.
“It’s important for parents to choose and entrust their children to a school that is aligned with their family’s vision — one that provides a holistic education to help children grow in the knowledge of God, because children are a precious gift from the Lord,” he said.
SDH Surabaya will accommodate up to 1,500 students across three main towers in the City of Tomorrow complex. The campus will feature modern, world-class facilities, including smart classrooms with advanced learning technology, creative maker spaces, and comprehensive sports facilities for both indoor and outdoor activities.
Enrollment for the 2026/27 academic year is now open for students from Kindergarten through Senior High School. With its holistic approach to education, SDH Surabaya is committed to shaping the next generation to serve, lead, and bless Indonesia and the nations.
